SERIES
The Blue Ridge Mountains are one of the most biologically diverse regions in the continental United States. From salamanders to bald eagles, the mountains are home to critical populations of many endangered species. Somewhere deep in the Shenandoah Valley, a single wildlife rehabilitator tends to about fifty injured animals.
Among the most fragile of her patients are the birds of prey. Illness and injury can leave these apex predators completely defenseless. In these I’mages, I aimed to capture the beauty and vulnerability of the animals as the future of their species relies on humans.
